SEND & Speech & Language Therapy
At The Davenport School, we have a dedicated Special Needs Co-ordinator who ensures students have every opportunity to fully access the curriculum by:
- Providing advice, training and support to all staff
- Ensuring that appropriate individual Education Plans are in place and implemented
- Maintaining liaison with parents, carers and other professionals
- Ensuring that relevant information about students is collated, recorded and updated
We have a qualified and experienced Speech and Language Therapist who works closely with the SENCO, staff and students. Our Speech and Language Therapist works on a one to one or small group basis with students who have communication difficulties. With her help, they are encouraged to overcome their barriers and become more engaged with learning.
The SEND team oversee the Personal Education Plans (PEPs) for students and the Education Health Care Plans (EHCPs). They work with the Teacher in Charge, the teachers and learning support staff to enable them to support the students in the best way possible. This means students can overcome their barriers to learning and make progress educationally and build their confidence so they are better able to manage themselves emotionally.
